Homemade Waffles with Candied/Glazed Bacon
These waffles are light, fluffy, and buttery, with a crispy edge—perfect for pairing with sweet and savory candied bacon!
Equipment:
-
Waffle maker
-
3 mixing bowls (for dry ingredients, wet ingredients, and egg whites)
-
Hand mixer or whisk
Ingredients:
Waffle Batter:
Dry Ingredients:
-
2 cups all-purpose flour
-
2 tsp baking powder
-
½ tsp salt
-
2 Tbsp sugar
Wet Ingredients:
-
3 egg yolks
-
1 ¾ cups milk
-
5 Tbsp melted butter
-
3 egg whites (beaten separately)
-
Butter, coconut oil, or non-stick spray (for waffle maker)
Instructions:
Make the Waffle Batter:
-
Mix the Dry Ingredients – In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
-
Prepare the Wet Ingredients – In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and milk.
-
Beat the Egg Whites – Using a hand mixer or whisk, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
-
Combine – Gently mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring just until combined.
-
Add the Butter – Stir in the melted butter. It’s okay if the batter is slightly lumpy—don’t overmix!
-
Fold in the Egg Whites – Carefully fold in the beaten egg whites to keep the batter light and airy.
Cook the Waffles:
-
Preheat the waffle maker and lightly grease with butter or coconut oil.
-
Pour about 1 cup of batter into the waffle maker, spreading evenly.
-
Place two slices of candied bacon on top before closing the waffle iron.
-
Cook until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes, depending on your waffle maker.
-
Repeat with the remaining batter.
Serving Suggestions:
-
Drizzle with maple syrup for extra indulgence.
-
Top with whipped cream or a dusting of powdered sugar.
-
Add fresh berries for a sweet and tangy contrast.
Enjoy your crispy, fluffy waffles with caramelized bacon perfection! 🍽✨
